Contact UsWhat is considered a dental emergency?
Dental emergencies are any situation that requires immediate or same-day attention from an experienced emergency dentist. Common dental emergencies include:
- Severe Tooth or Gum Pain
- Cracked, Broken, or Dislodged Teeth
- Uncontrollable Bleeding or Swelling
- Dental Abscesses
- Foreign Object Stuck Between Teeth
- Loose Adult Teeth
What should I do if I knock out a tooth?
When an adult tooth is dislodged, time is of the essence. The first thing you’ll want to do is locate the tooth, pick it up by the crown, and rinse it off if possible. If it’s not too painful, reinserting the tooth in its socket and holding it in place will help to keep it alive as you head to our office. You can also put it in a cup of milk or saliva. We will do everything we can to save the tooth and reattach it.
Should I visit the ER or an emergency dentist?
If your issue is tooth, gum, or mouth-related, you will likely need to see an emergency dentist. Emergency rooms typically lack the tools and experienced staff required to treat dental emergencies. Broken jaws or any type of non-dental injury that is more urgent should be treated at an emergency room. If you’re not sure what to do, you are always welcome to contact our office for assistance.
